Nareen Young

Nareen Young was appointed Senior Consultant at the Sydney office of DCA in August 2005 and works with leading Australian businesses and organisations to develop and implement practical, business- and outcome-based diversity policies, strategies and practices.

She has recently been appointed Acting Chief Executive Officer for DCA.

Prior to this appointment, Nareen had a notable career as a senior employment relations practitioner and most recently was Director of the NSW Working Women's Centre, funded by Federal and NSW Governments, for seven years until July 2005. Under Nareen's leadership the Centre worked with diverse communities in NSW to provide women with resources to achieve practical workplace solutions and to work towards overcoming workplace discrimination, both systemic and individual.

Nareen is expert in all areas of gender equity in employment and in all diversity issues.

During her time at the Working Women's Centre Nareen provided significant media commentary and analysis, was a guest lecturer at many NSW tertiary institutions including The University of Sydney and The University of Western Sydney, spoke widely at a range of business, government and community sector forums and published, including by invitation in The University of NSW Law Journal Forum - The Sex Discrimination Act, A Twenty Year Review.

Nareen has been appearing in the various industrial and human rights tribunals since 1989 and is widely respected as developing cutting edge approaches at the intersection of employment and anti-discrimination law.

In 2003 Nareen was nominated for a Human Rights Award and Medal for her leadership at the NSW Working Women's Centre.
