Marian Baird

Dr Marian Baird is Associate Professor in Work and Organisational Studies at the University of Sydney. Marian is also Convenor of the Women and Work Research Group in the Faculty of Economics and Business and is a leading researcher on women and work.
Marian has a number of significant research projects underway. These include a major study of parental leave (including maternity, paternity and adoption leave) in Australia, researching the ‘dual agenda’ of organisational effectiveness and gender equity in Australian organisations, and analysing the impact of regulatory changes on low paid female workers. Marian has strong links with policy makers in business, government and unions and her research has a practical and contemporary focus. Marian has published widely in Australia and internationally and is co-author of the best selling Australian HRM text, Human Resource Management: Strategies and Processes. Marian is also a regular commentator in the media.
